We understand some patients are worried about the new government guidance and feel they should be exempt from wearing a face mask. We are not in a position to provide letters of exemption. Government advice on the use of face coverings can be found here: . This link includes a list of reasons why someone might be exempt from wearing a face covering.

Following national discussion, we recognise that the government guidance on exemptions suggests there is no requirement for evidence of exemption. Therefore it is sufficient for an individual to self-declare this. The responsibility for issuing exemptions lies with the transport provider, not the patient’s GP. Similarly, practices are under no obligation to provide letters of support for anyone who does not fall under the list of exemptions but considers them to have another reason to be exempted.

Patients needing to travel on public transport in London may wish to print-out a self-exemption card which has been approved by TfL. This can be displayed on clothing or a lanyard. It can be found here:

Please find below a link to download a face exemption card, these are D.I.Y cards to help deal with public situations that may arise, these exemption cards are intended for those who cannot wear a face mask due to severe distress or disability.

Flu News

We have begun the process of booking patients in for their flu jabs. Any patients over 65 please call the surgery to book your jab, you will have received a text message. Please note that flu vaccination for people aged 50 to 64 who are not in an at risk group will not be made available until November at the earliest, and then only if there is sufficient vaccine. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. You should neither invite nor vaccinate people in this age group until advised to do so. Please continue to invite and vaccinate those in at risk groups aged 50 to 64 as normal.

Improving Access for our Patients

Patients who are registered at this practice can now book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on weekday evenings (after 6.30pm) or at the weekends (on Saturday and Sunday). Appointments will take place at another NHS setting nearby at Bharani Medical Centre. Talk to the practice receptionist to find out more or book an appointment. This is part of a national drive to help improve access to general practice and get the best possible outcomes for patients.
